What is pøiema?
pøiema is a Greek
word for “workmanship” or “masterpiece” and comes from Ephesians 2:10: "For
we are His workmanship (pøiema), created in Christ Jesus
for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we
would walk in them." (NASB) The “o” is the Greek letter “theta”.
This is the first letter for the word “God” in Greek, and reminds us
that our gathering together as Christian artists is to worship our God
who made us as His masterpieces! We are not here to perform for one
another, but to share of the gifts and talents God has given us and
perform for the Creator, the Artist.
Art is ongoing throughout the pøiema worship experience. All artist are
invited to bring the tools of their art to every episode of pøiema. You
are encouraged to engage in the practice of art as the episode is in
progress.
Artists of all disciplines come together and share the unique way in which the act of engaging in their art is their most poignant expression of worship. It is worshiping God with their essence, and their most true self.
The Need for pøiema
Artistic pursuit is often done in isolation. When the song is composed, the poem written, the vessel cured, the dance perfected where does the Christian go to share this articulation of worship? Can corporate worship embrace the untamed vitality of the artist’s gift? The answer is: pøiema.Art Trading Cards
At each of our episodes people are invited to "art" cards, cards that you don't sell, but trade with one another. Put your art, your theme on a card, and give a peice of your worship to someone else in exchange for a piece of theirs. You can't do it wrong, unless you go too heavy on the feathers...Be a featured artist at pøiema
We are looking for artists of every discipline to
participate in a variety of ways. We work with each artist to ensure
their art and worship story is presented in line with the artist’s
